A Choice I can Make

In my little corner of the world it’s pretty smoky🚬 lately…actually it’s been pretty smokey for years throughout the summer. Smoke from fire burning everything it can eat in sight. You may have guessed I’m living in California. There are so many fires🔥 burning all over the place, it’s hard to keep track🙄. The fires have rarely come close to my place. This year was different…A fire started (for whatever reason) and moved closer and closer to my place until everyone had to evacuate. In the end, my place burned down😭. It is an incredible loss in many ways; So many things can never be replaced. I can rebuild, but nothing will ever be the same. Once again, life gives me a SO NOT SUBTLE reminder of the impermanence of my brief stay here on the little mud ball🌎. I have no choice but to accept this part of life the way it is. Fires ignite and burn large areas, just like a hurricane 🌊ravages all in it’s path. Acts of nature I can’t🙅🏻‍♀️ control. Yet there is plenty of little things in my life that I can affect. Those are what I choose to focus on. I can go back and rebuild or step away from the ash (and this area) for good😶; A choice I can make. I am blessed to have choice in this (I know many don’t). Time to start anew, hopefully a little smarter🥺 this time.
