Running and playing. Climbing trees and skipping rocks. Setting out in a direction with no idea where it leads; No point or objective in sight. As kids
that’s what we do naturally. We just do things for the fun of it; we do things for no reason
. A new friend reminded me of all this (and more) yesterday. We set out on an adventure
that had no point and no reason. It was fun and spontaneous. We talked with curious people and had interesting experiences. We watched a guy skateboarding
down a building. Half way skating down, a green wheel popped off his board. We watched as
sparks literally flew off his board as he struggled not to crash–he crashed anyway. We cheered
enthusiastically all the same. He was doing his thing; he was living. I marvel at people who just live so footloose and fancy free. They don’t seem to plan much (if at all). They don’t have digital
schedulers that remind them of a dozen things needing to be done before lunch…And they look very happy! Very very happy
! This isn’t me saying I’m going to hang up my plans and live rudderless. *Gasp*
God forbid I go 5 minutes without my digital scheduler. Though as I lived through yesterday I realized there was a lot I could learn
from my friend and the guy who crashed is board. They really enjoy their time, in love with each moment. No rules, no expectations, (and often) no shoes
. As Eckhart Tolle would say, “Be Here Now.”
